About Us

The Scoot Inn has been pouring drinks on East 4th Street longer than most Austin venues have existed. The building dates to 1871, making it one of the oldest continuously operating bars in Texas, and the bones of that history show in every weathered plank and string light overhead. When you walk through the front door, you're stepping into a room that has outlasted trends, boom cycles, and every wave of Austin reinvention.

The real draw is the outdoor stage, set into a courtyard that feels like someone's backyard, except with a proper sound system and a crowd that actually listens. Touring acts from across the country play here, from indie folk to alt-country to rock bands that fill the yard shoulder to shoulder on a good Friday night. The inside lounge got a thoughtful refresh and now carries a low-lit, lived-in vibe that earns its own stay.

Accessibility matters here too. The venue maintains a dedicated ADA area near the stage, something disabled veterans and mobility-impaired concertgoers have specifically called out in reviews as a genuine difference-maker. A 4.6-star rating across more than a thousand reviews says the rest.

What We Offer

On any given week, the Scoot Inn calendar fills with ticketed shows spanning indie rock, Americana, blues, and touring singer-songwriters passing through Austin on their way up or down the circuit. Check the website before you go because the lineup turns over fast and shows sell out.

Beyond the stage, the bar keeps a solid selection of Texas craft beers on draft alongside the usual spirits, and the patio is open most nights whether there's a ticketed show or not. The venue also hosts private events and buyouts, with the courtyard and indoor lounge available for corporate gatherings, album release parties, and milestone celebrations that want a setting with actual character.

Parking along East 4th can get tight on show nights, so arriving early or ridesharing is the move. Doors typically open an hour before showtime, which gives you enough buffer to grab a drink, find your spot in the yard, and settle in before the first chord hits.

"Went last night to see Thr Strumbellas. Great venue. They have an ADA area that saved me. I’m a disabled vet and can’t stand through a concert. The ADA area allowed me to be able to have a great time with my wife and daughter and not be in constant pain. Thank you guys for this."

"Love the venue. A little remodel on the inside since the last time I was there. Awesome lounge vibe inside. The stage outside is still great. A nice cleaned up area outback. The stage is set in the corner to maximize the area for the crowd and visuals of the stage. Cool upper seating area. Great sound. Was happy to return here and see a great show."

"Great show, staff is friendly. Handing out water to ensure everyone hydrated, lots of places don’t do this. I didn’t like the check in process, people who were behind me got in quicker and before me since they split the lines. Oh well still got close I guess. The outdoor venue isn’t so bad when the weather is nice. The layout reminds me of Stubbs but way smaller. I enjoyed the atmosphere and great size with a good elevated bar in the back. Street parking but was easy to find a spot close by on a Saturday night."

"Super cute venue that has a lot of space and easy to navigate. They had a lot of heaters for a chilly night and the stage could be seen anywhere you stood. I’m giving 4 stars because literally every staff member we encountered except for those checking us in were SO rude. The bartenders were incredibly rude when asked if they had coffee and baileys (not a dumb question….. it was 30) then asked if they had a certain type of beer… again met with attitude. Just overall acted as if they didn’t want to be there. I get it. It’s cold. But it’s your job. Overall, loved the concert. The venue is cute. But I wouldn’t choose to go here in my own volition for no reason."
